Anti-Ageing Creams, Serums and Firming Treatments
Around 35 products aimed at lines, firmness and tone: retinol and peptide serums, richer day and night creams, and firming treatments for face and neck. From Elizabeth Arden, Estée Lauder, Lancôme, Clarins and RoC.
Retinol or peptides — where should I start?
Retinol has the longest research behind it and is the stronger option, which is also why it needs introducing slowly: twice a week at night, buffered with a moisturiser, built up over months. Peptides are gentler and easier to tolerate daily. Whichever you choose, daily sunscreen does more for how skin ages than any night product.
How long before I can tell if it is working?
Longer than most people allow. Skin turns over roughly every four weeks, so three months is a fair trial for a retinol or a peptide and anything less tells you little. We quote what a product contains and what its brand claims and add nothing of our own, because results genuinely vary with skin, age and consistency. Genuine sealed stock, with UK returns on anything unopened.
